MonaFit™

MonafitTM is fermented product from the functional red yeast Monascus pilosus SWM-008 strain. The unique feature of MonafitTM is its absence of monacolin K and citrinin, reducing safety risks for consumers. It contains two active compounds: the novel active ingredient monascinol (Msol) and the well-known monascin (MS). These two active components work synergistically to support consumers in weight management and overall health. In summary, MonafitTM is highly suitable for formulating dietary supplements and fortified foods.

Strain Characteristics

Monascus pilosus SWM-008 is a novel functional red yeast strain developed by Professor Tzu-Ming Pan research team at SunWay Biotech. Its fermentation products contain high concentrations of active compounds: Monascinol and Monascin. In preclinical studies, MonaFit™ has been shown to enhance hepatic AMPK activity, reduce liver fat production, promote fat metabolism by converting white adipose tissue into energy-burning brown adipose tissue, and improve gut health by increasing beneficial Akkermansia muciniphila and short-chain fatty acids.  To date, four SCI journal articles have been published, providing scientific evidence for this strain. In summary, MonaFit™ contributes to fat metabolism, liver health, and the maintenance of a healthy gut environment.
